TUTOR - GCSE & A-level Computer Science

I am a teacher of Computing and Computer Science with 9 years experience. I taught for 8 years at a Sixth Form College, in London and 1 year at an International 6th Form College, in Mallorca, Spain.

In my first lesson I will find the gaps in a student's knowledge. Often a student has a clear idea of what they need help on, but I also find that diagnostic assessment will help find other knowledge gaps the student is not aware of.

I will then address these knowledge gaps with specific tailor-made lessons. At the end of the lesson I use summative assessment to determine if they have improved. In future lessons I will re-test the student to see if they have retained this knowledge.

My expectations of the student I expect students to prepare for a lesson by watching a video or reading a text before their lesson. We then go through their understanding and I ask concept checking questions to determine the knowledge the student has. If I find errors or misunderstanding I then re-teach that content. When satisfied with their learning I reassess the student with custom-made online tests to see if the students have retained and can apply that knowledge.
